A-freaking-hoj.
How's it going? This week was kinda a weird one. We did a ton of stuff, but since it's the first week of the transfer it felt like it was just a ton of random stuff that didnt really connect to eachother. If that makes sense. But it was a great week.
I'm loving Plzeň so far. We have a pretty sweet apartment, and we live in a nice part of town. The members here are great too. We met with the bishop and talked to him about what we can do to help unify the ward. We've got some ideas, and we're excited to work with him. There may or may not be a spike ball set on its way to us in the mail. Bishop may or may not have announced it in Sacrament meeting. We may or may not be planning on having spike ball tournaments. I'm stoked.
Also I just love the bishop here. He's given us vegetables from his garden at least three times this week. He's way motivated to hype the ward up about the gospel and help them gain more unity. He's just a super good man.
I forgot to mention a few weeks ago that I tried tatarak for the first time. It's basically just a pile of raw ground beef. You take a piece of bread, rub garlic on it, put some of the raw meat on it, and then eat it. It's actually pretty good.
We spent some time this week cleaning a closet in the church for Bishop. Here's the thing about Czechs...they keep everything. They're really bad at throwing things away. We found so many random things in that closet from who knows how many years ago. Probably the best was a creepy doll/puppet thing that was just chilling on the shelf.
We helped a dude with his Czech. But it was kinda cool cause he's from Iran. So we were speaking our first language (English), which was his second language. But we were teaching him our second language (Czech), which was his third language. The language situations are so crazy in Europe.
Graham and I found out we're third cousins. Bet our ancestors never thought that their descendants would be serving together as mission companions in the Czech Republic.
Spiritual Thought:
I just want to reiterate the point that God knows us personally. He knows exactly who we are and what we desire. He knows how we best learn. He knows what kind of people we connect with the best. He knows what things are hard for us and what things are fun for us. He knows the little things that we find joy in. He knows every little detail. And He uses those details when He's helping us out. He keeps those in mind. He's always thinking about how He can best help us, and if we expect Him to help us throughout the day and look for evidences of Him helping us, we'll find them.
Life is good. God is good. The weather is cold, but it's been raining, so that's good. Have a great week!
