"Wrecked by a Czech Babi"

 Ahoj!

This week went pretty fast...probs cause we had Thanksgiving.

We went through our entire schedule this week to try and figure out what things we can cut down. We found out we have about 15 more hours of stuff to do each week than we have time for. So definitely gonna try and fix that this week.

Thursday we had Thanksgiving. They don't celebrate it in the Czech Republic, and cause of Covid no one invited us over. But it was actually a blessing, because the elders in our district were able to come to Plzeň, and we had Thanksgiving with them. It's been weeks since we've seen them in person, so it was nice to just hang out with them.

We got to go have lunch with my favorite Czech Babička!!! It's been so long since I've seen her. Way too long. We made the mistake of not wearing warm enough clothes though haha. They were warm enough for us, but she did not approve. Literally all I had were my ankles showing, and she smacked me and sent me home with long socks on my feet. Hahaha I love Czech grannies so much. She invited us over to make cukroví (Christmas cookies) this week, and I am so pumped.

There was one day this week I messaged about 65ish people on Facebook. Now I'm trying to figure out how to respond to all of them haha. But we're talking to like 30 people now, so that's cool. Hopefully one of them will turn into someone we're teaching.

For pday, our district was lame and cancelled on us, so Huhane and I ended up just taking a trip to Buben Hrad about 20 minutes from us. Our English students recommended it to us. They kept roasting us and saying we wouldn't go because you have to walk a little bit to get to the castle and Americans don't like to walk because they'd rather drive. So we proved them wrong haha. It was kind of a sketchy castle, but it was still cool. There were just some creepy vibes there. The walk through the forest was gorgeous though. And on the drive back we had a gorgeous sunset over the city to our right and to our left the moon was HUGE and orange. God blessed us big today.

Spiritual Thought:

I've been studying a lot about hope this week and what it really means. I really liked this quote:

"Our tears are just as wet, but not because of despair." -Neal A Maxwell

The thing with hope is that it doesn't save us from being in a hard situation or from feeling the pain/sadness. It just helps us to feel those things without feeling despair as well. We feel those things while also knowing that they won't last foreverand that there's a purpose in them. Hope is a beautiful thing.

Have a great first week of December! Už jsou Vánoce!! Love you all!!
