Čus!
It was a flipping exhausting week, but it was filled with the best things. Get ready.
It all started with making cukroví (Christmas cookies) with my favorite Czech Babička. The Christmas season has officially started. Also I'm pretty sure that Czech grannies have super powers when it comes to making cukroví because hers looked so much prettier than ours did.
We had district council in České Budějovice this week. It was probably one of the more fun district councils I've had. There was this super cool dude there for it, and then afterwards we had a ping pong match. He creamed us haha.
It also snowed a little bit this week. Not enough to stick for more than a few hours, but it was something. Not a fan of living in the snow
We went to Klatovy. It's a pretty city with a ton of history. While we were there we toured these random underground rooms in the basement of this antique store. The dude giving the tour just kept going on and on and on for a whole hour. I only understood about 25% of what he was saying, and I zoned out for the rest. But we got to hang with a member and his friend so it was worth it.
Saturday we went to the náměstí to help out this German member. Bishop asked us to help her find some things, but the problem is she doesn't speak Czech or English and we don't speak German. So it was an interesting meeting haha. We were trying our best to communicate, but she just kept getting frustrated and yelling at us in German. I felt bad. But somehow we figured it out. While there we also checked out the Christmas markets on the náměstí. I'm stoked they have them this year. They're one of my favorite traditions.
Yesterday we went over to one of our English student's house. His wife and daughter just moved here, and we got to meet them. It was so much fun. We just chatted and played some games. They're suuper good people. It was one of my favorite parts of the week. We left just feeling so grateful and so hyped.
For pday we went to this city with the elders called Písek. It actually has this tiny bridge that Charles Bridge in Prague was modeled after. We just walked around the city a bit, watched some swans fight, and then got lunch. Super laid back but just what I needed.
Spiritual Thought:
I was just reminded this week about how cool grace is. We literally don't have to be perfect in this life because Christ is there to cover us. We just have to try our best and do what we can, and then He figures out the rest. It's just so cool that we're so imperfect, but God can use us to do these great things. And it's our imperfections that allow Him to do it.
I hope you have a great week! Listen to a lot of Christmas music, and drink some hot chocolate. Love you guys!
Sestra Lewis
